  1. Blessed be the Lord my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
  2. My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.
  3. Lord, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!
  4. Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.
  5. Bow thy heavens, O Lord, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
  1. Of David. Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
  2. He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.
  3. O LORD, what is man that you care for him, the son of man that you think of him?
  4. Man is like a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow.
  5. Part your heavens, O LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, so that they smoke.

  1. Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:
  2. That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:
  3. That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:
  4. That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.
  5. Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord.
  1. Deliver me and rescue me from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful.
  2. Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace.
  3. Our barns will be filled with every kind of provision. Our sheep will increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields;
  4. our oxen will draw heavy loads. There will be no breaching of walls, no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets.
  5. Blessed are the people of whom this is true; blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.
